The Dying Dove, 2025

I created this in response to the genocide happening in Gaza against the Palestinian people, and the ongoing war in the Ukraine.  

The dove is dying, and wrapped in bandages.  A discarded olive branch lies on the ground as the dove chokes on its own blood.  The dove has long been a symbol of peace, and, with the ongoing violence as more and more people die, peace has long since died with it.  
I wanted to show the dove still holding on, trying to fight and cling for life.  I took inspiration from the sculpture the Dying Gaul.  But where the Dying Gaul is no longer fighting the inevitable, the dove is still trying to stand, and still trying to bring peace.

This is the original work of art, and is set up to be printed on a 20x16 canvas.  As a digital artist working in a digital medium, sizes can be fluid until it is printed.
